Telephone service quality fixed soon scrutinized by Arcep

The Arcep wants to establish, in 2008, a device for monitoring the quality of telephone service fixed networks for residential offerings. "It will contribute to consumer information and encourage operators to monitor and improve the performance of their service," says the telecom regulator, who wishes to include tenders based on the network as well as classical voice over IP ( VoIP).

This overview will resume the same pattern as that for the past 10 years on mobile or covering the quality of services (http://www.appel118.fr/). This will be a priori operators to provide public information about the quality of their telephone service, according indicators and measurement methods predetermined. The Arcep already offers a list of criteria, including the rate of defects per line and the time of repair, the period of preparation of communications and the volume of complaints about billing.

From this perspective, the telecom regulator today launched a public consultation to solicit the views of interested persons. Depending on the results, he will propose a device that must be approved by the Minister responsible for electronic communications.
