On 6 April, King Mohammed VI has shifted in the region of Essaouira to usher in the vast wind farm "AMOGDOUL." With a capacity of 60 1000 MW "concerning the construction of wind farms. This will help achieve the objectives of Morocco to reduce its emissions of greenhouse gases. The country intends to achieve 12% renewables by 2012.

The project was funded by the German bank KFW which, apart from the Federation of Small Business in Germany, made a priority of its investments in developing countries and in renewable energy. The park was built parl'entreprise Spanish Gamesa, as a global company, with areas of expertise renewables.

The park, located in Cape Sim, consists of 71 wind turbines with a capacity of average annual production of 200 GWH. It allows a savings of 48000 tons of fuel oil and a reduction of CO2 emissions from 156000 tonnes (per year figure). It is the result of an excellent collaboration.

The authorities succeeded not only to conduct an environmental approach, but they also bring forward the development of the region and the city of Essaouira, important historical and tourism in Morocco.

It is a great project, but where are the French?
